5 Easy Cocktails to Make for Christmas

Christmas is a beautiful season, and it takes a good glass of cocktail to make it even more beautiful. From the parties to the family reunions, there is an opportunity to have a refreshing sip of your special cocktail.

We are not encouraging crazy drinking through the festive season, but it pays to know how to make these easy cocktails. Do well to go for a cocktail that will refresh you in the heat of the December harmattan, and the ones that will keep you warm on the cold nights and early mornings.

Easy Cocktails for Christmas

1. Holiday Champagne Cocktail

Champagne is the drink for celebration, and there is no better cocktail than this to kick start your Christmas season.


  • 1 sugar cube
  • 2-3 dashes of Angostura Bitters
  • Brut Champagne

How to make

  • Put a sugar cube in a chilled champagne flute.
  • Add dashes of bitters and fill up with champagne.
  • Squeeze a lemon twist to garnish and serve.

2. Pomegranate Martinis

Martini is classic cocktail – mixing it with pomegranate juice brings a whole new refreshing flavour to it. This is one cocktail to have on a cold harmattan evening.


  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 3/4 cup of vodka
  • 1/2 pomegranate juice
  • 1/3 cup of fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup of Cointreau
  • Slice of lime to garnish

How to make

  • Bring the sugar and water to simmer in a small sauce pan and allow to cool.
  • Combine the sugar syrup, vodka, juices, and Cointreau in a large pitcher. Add two cups of ice and stir until chill.
  • Strain into chilled martini glasses.
  • Garnish with lime slice.

3. Christmas Eggnog

Eggs are not only for Easter, they matter as well during the Christmas period. This might take a while to make, but the taste is worth it at the end.


  • 12 eggs
  • 3/4 granulated sugar
  • 1 pint cognac
  • 1/2 pint dark rum
  • 1 pint milk
  • 1/2 pint heavy cream
  • Nutmeg

How to make

  • Crack the eggs and separate the whites from the yolk.
  • Beat the yolk slowly while adding sugar till the sugar dissolves completely.
  • Add cognac slowly while stirring, then add the rum.
  • Stir in milk and heavy cream.
  • Beat the whites until they stand on their own. Fold them into the mixture.
  • Stir in grated nutmeg and serve.

4. Lemony Gin Punch

This can be a huge kick for a great day during the Christmas. A glass of Lemony Gin Punch in the morning is a roller coaster for the rest of the day.


  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of club soda
  • 3/4 of fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup of gin
  • Lemon wedge to garnish

How to make

  • Add the sugar and water to a sauce pan and bring to simmer. Remove from heat and allow to cool down.
  • Combine the sugar syrup, honey, club soda, lemon juice and gin in a large pitcher and stir to mix well
  • Garnish with lemon wedge and serve over ice.

5. Peppermint White Christmas

A splash of Creme de Cocoa, champagne and candy sticks can light up your Christmas in ways you could never imagine. Do your palate a huge favour and add this to the menu for Christmas.


  • 1 bottle chilled Champagne
  • White Creme de Cocoa
  • Candy canes

How to make

  • Put one candy stick in a ziplock bag with something hard and crush till the candy stick becomes a semi fine powder.
  • Dip the rims of your champagne flutes in a small dish of White Creme de Cocoa and then in the crushed candy stick.
  • Mix the Creme de Cocoa and the chilled Champagne in a Champagne flute.
  • Garnish with a whole candy stick.
